Morphe Makeup Talk Lip Liner
The search for "Morphe Makeup Talk" is up 2,750% and "Morphe Makeup Talk lip liner" is up 2,050%, per Google trends. This brand came up in our previous January 2024 report, which at that time we attributed to the brand's eye/lip liner being discontinued and probably stirring up consumer interest (and FOMO panic).
There's nothing apparent in the news about the brand this month, although a few days ago on Reddit, a TikTok video was posted showing Morphe brand ambassadors appearing at a Chicago makeup show to deliver the product to Tana Mongeau and Brooke Schofield — the two hosts of the Canceled Podcast (r/canceledpod). Mongeau reportedly used this media as a platform to beg Morphe to bring the liner back.
Similarly, one day ago, a video on TikTok from makeupbylexh showed what the Makeup Talk liner looks like after application. The video caption read: "Here's what Makeup Talk lip liner looks like when it comes back because Morphe actually values what their customers have to say."
Morphe responded in the comments, saying, "We hear y'all loud and clear," which spun off with numerous additional comments from users requesting additional shades be brought back. Talk about a tool for consumer feedback.
The product is currently only available in Sugar Pie and Honeymoon shades on the brand website; four other shades including Makeup Talk are sold out. The liners are said to impart powerfully pigmented color that glides on with a cream, smooth formula that "slays" on.

Tessa Makeup, Met Gala and Chanel
Searches on "Tessa Makeup" are up 1,700% in the past week, also per Google Trends. This likely relates to the American actress and musician Tessa Thompson's appearance at the Met Gala (New York Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala), which was held on May 6; the high profile event creates a good amount of social buzz. The star is known for the films Selma, Dear White People and Creed, and the TV series Veronica Mars and Westworld.
Yesterday (May 7), an article by InStyle featured Thompson's "look" at the 2024 gala, describing her gown, hair and makeup style. Per makeup artist Alex Babsky, Thompson's eye makeup featured Chanel products including Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer in Noir Black, and Ombre Essentielle Multi-Use Longwearing Eyeshadow in Bois Noir and Gris Paris shades. Her cheeks donned Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sun-kissed Powder in Medium Coral; and lips, Chanel 31 Le Rouge Satin Lipstick in Rouge Croisière.

IBA Cosmetics and Invisible Sunscreen
Google Trends shows a 250% increase in searches on "IBA Cosmetics" in the past week, which could relate to the brand's #5 appearance in Tracxn's May 6 report, "Internet First Beauty Brands Startups in Ahmedabad, India." The vegan and halal brand made our April 3, 2024, trends report as well, which closely followed the March 25 Holi festival.
The brand is currently featuring essential summertime products, include the IBA Invisible Sunscreen Serum with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, SPF 50, PA+++. The product is designed to moisturize, protect and brighten skin; impart no whitecast; and "boost" skin's glow. Additionally featured is coconut water, to rehydrate and refresh.
Douxds Skin Care System
According to the source Exploding Topics, interest in the Douxds skin care system has skyrocketed more than 99,000% in recent years; the brand came up in our February 2023 trends report as well. The line includes the FLEX vibrating face brush, the WAR face wash and the PRIME face quench.
One month ago (in April 2024), GQ UK highlighted the brand's FLEX vibrating face brush in its report, "GQ Shops: Sports, Gadgets and Grooming Must-haves." Per the source, the brush addresses acne, ingrown hairs and dark marks to achieve smooth, clear and fresh skin. The brush is reportedly used and trusted by more than 50,000 men.
#cooltonedlipliner and #peachpowder
Finally, this week, Spate's TikTok tracker has identified cool-toned lip liner and peach powder as trending hashtags. Per the source, #cooltonedlipliner is up 63,710,200%, week over week, while #peachsettingpowder grew 7,084,000%. Both trends seem to be exactly what they say they are; interestingly, peach makeup was also highlighted by Allure magazine in March as a trending color for spring.
