Makeup and Toiletry Bags — Hers and His
According to Google Trends, searches on "Goyard Makeup Bag" and "Goyard bag" are up 1,200% and 1,100%, respectively, within the past seven days. Bustle reports Goyard's St. Louis-style bag is celebrity Kendall Jenner's choice, as she was recently spotted toting one — no doubt, driving their popularity and, in turn, making them more difficult to come by. Interestingly, Maison Goyard was reportedly the first Parisian house to create a dome-shaped makeup bag in the early 20th century.
In addition, GQ recently highlighted the "21 Best Men's Toiletry Bags and Dopp Kits 2023," naming both Dopp and Goyard among its favorites. A quick web search revealed "Dopp" is both a registered trademark and generalized term for the toiletry case. Per Travelpro, the Dopp kit "is a toiletry bag originally made from leather or cloth. The term originates in Germany when Charles Doppelt began producing a new type of toiletry bag in1926. Dopp bags became popular with members of the U.S. military."
While not specifically cosmetics, these search terms are interesting indicators of equal interest in makeup and toiletry bags for both men and women. It might be a stretch but perhaps it signals continued growing interest in the male beauty sector.
Asoka Makeup and Florency Cosméticos
As a brief honorable mention, searches for "Asoka Makeup Trend" and "Florency Cosméticos" are up again this week; per Google trends, +110% and +100%, respectively. We've covered both in previous reports.Insight Cosmetics Cheek Tint Blush 'Pop'
Also per Google Trends, searches for "Insight Cosmetics" are up this week by 90%. According to the company website, the brand was established in 2012 in Kandivali, Mumbai, by Dinesh Jain and is a beauty and skin care manufacturing company of FDA-approved, cruelty-free, vegan and dermatologically approved products.
A recent YouTube video features the brand's Cheek Tint Blush launch, highlighting packaging that looks like an ice cream pop. The user pulls the "stick" from the pop to reveal a felt tip-style applicator, which is then dabbed on the cheeks (or lips) and blended for a "pop" of color. The launch was also promoted in an Instagram video two weeks ago.
The tint is described as a moisturizing formula with high color payoff, and is said to create a rosy flush that lasts all day. Available in three shades, the formula incorporates fruit extracts "for a vitamin skin infusion" to soften skin and lips.
Watermelon extract reportedly calms inflammation, reduces redness and speeds up skin cell turnover, while beetroot offers antioxidant properties to give skin an instant boost and fair, pinkish, clear glow. Cherry is also an antioxidant to help skin defend against environmental aggressors, additionally providing vitamin C to brighten skin.
Ingredients (per Nykaa): Cheek Tint Blush: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer (and) Lecithin Acid Red 18 (CI 16255), Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Avocado Oil, Watermelon Extract, Beetroot Extract, Cherry Extract, Fragrance.
Mars Cosmetics Expansion, Popstar Liquid Mousse Lipstick
"Mars Cosmetics" searches are up 40% this week, according to Google Trends. Another Indian cosmetics brand, this one is dedicated to creating "makeup for everyone." Per the source, the brand's latest kiosk was launched in Z Square Mall, Kanpur, and it recently welcomed another kiosk at Pacific Mall, Netaji Subhash Place, "to enhance its offline presence and facilitate accessibility to its consumers."
On the social media front, iDiva recently reviewed the brand's Popstar Liquid Mousse Lipstick, which according to MARS, "gives you a bright pout that will let you outshine the camera flashes." The lightweight formula is described as completely matte and smudge- and transfer-proof. Available in 24 shades, it is said to glide on effortlessly and preserve its color for a flawless appearance that lasts all day (up to 12 hr). The matte finish reportedly achieves vibrant color and comfort while keeping lips hydrated and supple; it also delivers "a velvety finish without drying."
