5 Cosmetic Actives Highlighted in the In-cos Asia Innovation Zone
Taking place in Bangkok from Nov. 5-7, 2024, In-cosmetics Asia will reportedly welcome more than 13,000 attendees and feature a record 100 ingredients in the Innovation Zone.
According to In-cosmetics Asia organizers, this year’s Innovation Zone will spotlight submissions from key suppliers including: Actichem, Algaktiv, Biocosmethic, DSM-Firmenich, Exsymol, Greentech, J2KBio Co., Ltd., Laboratoires Expanscience, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics by Clariant, MC Actives GmbH, Mibelle AG Biochemistry, Seiwa Kasei Co., Ltd., Shanghai Coachchem Tech Co., Ltd., Special Chemicals, Specialty Natural Products PCL., TEN Co., Ltd, TriBeaute Inc., and others.
Following are five selected ingredient highlights, chosen by the organizers.
- SCH ShellCare Scalp for total hydration, anti-hair loss, elasticity, etc., scalp care: Special Chemicals, a manufacturer of active ingredients for cosmetic applications specializing in the production and distribution of raw materials for the cosmetic and perfumery sector, will be presenting its SCH ShellCare Scalp ingredient (INCI: Water (Aqua) (and) Polycaprolactone (and) Polyvinyl Alcohol (and) Cucurbita Pepo Seed Extract (and) Ellagic Acid (and) Tetrahydrocurcumin (and) Copper Tripeptide-1 (and) Tripeptide-10 Citrulline (and) Sodium Hyaluronate (and) Xanthan Gum (and) 1,2- Hexanediol (and) Caprylyl Glycol). Per the company, this encapsulated cosmetic active provides complete scalp care therapy. With turmeric, pomegranate and pumpkin seed extracts, very low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, and carefully selected peptides, SCH ShellCare Scalp is said to offer hydration, reduce hair loss, improve elasticity and effectively control scalp sebum.
- Wrinklezero for mitophagy and anti-wrinkle effects: The Eternal Nature (TEN Co., Ltd.), a manufacturer and distributor of raw materials and cosmetics ingredients, will be releasing Wrinklezero (INCI: Water (Aqua) (and) Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract (and) Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract (and) Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract (and) Pentylene Glycol (and) Propanediol (and) Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate). Per the company, this ingredient removes damaged mitochondria by accelerating the autophagy mechanism, which then reproduces healthy mitochondria; hence, it restores mitochondrial functions and reinforces cell vitality to prevent wrinkles. Additionally, it can reportedly inhibit cellular aging caused by oxidative stress.
Wrinklezero is said to inhibit the activity of β-galactosidase and thereby inhibit senescent cells significantly. It boosts lifting and firming effects by decreasing MMP synthesis and increasing collagen synthesis, the company reports, and it also effectively inhibits MMP1 and MMP3 synthesis, preventing the breakdown of collagen and elastin, and increasing Type I collagen synthesis. - Natural Resvinia 2% Sol. for anti-hair loss, protective effects, etc.: Actichem, a French producer of natural active ingredients from upcycled vine shoots and vine roots, will feature its COSMOS-approved hair care ingredient, Natural Resvinia 2% Sol. (INCI: Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Vine Extract.) The ingredient is reported to significantly reduce hair loss, stimulate hair growth, and impart anti-pollution and protective effects against oxidative damage. Per the company, the ingredient is made of natural resveratrol and epsilon-viniferin and extracted solely from upcycled French vine shoots.
- Timelys to enhance skin longevity, healthspan: Also joining the Innovation Zone lineup will be Greentech, with its natural active, Timelys (INCI: Propanediol (and) Water (Aqua) (and) Schisandra Chinensis Fruit Extract). According to the company, the ingredient is designed to enhance skin longevity. Developed from Schisandra chinensis, adaptogen berries of wild flora classified among the natural medicines, Timelys is reportedly rich in schisandrin, a phytomolecule known as skin healthspan enhancer. While optimizing essential interconnected cellular functions over time and acting on skin longevity mechanisms (autophagy, mitochondrial activity, microcirculation and inflammation), Timelys is designed to impart intensive preventive action on wrinkles, for glowing and smooth skin (clinical study of three multi-ethnic cohorts).
- PinoPlex hair health, sensory solution: Presenting its new bio-inspired ingredient, PinoPlex (INCI: Pinus Sylvestris Cone Extract (and) Glycerin (and) Sodium Benzoate (and) Aqua (Water)), will be Mibelle AG Biochemistry, which designs and develops unique, high-quality actives for the beauty industry. The ingredient is inspired by the concept of pine cone scales, which open and close depending on weather conditions; here, the hair cuticle does the same, depending on moisture levels.
According to the company, this powerful moisturizer not only penetrates the hair, but also retains water by levelling out the hair cuticle, making the hair smoother and shinier. The ingredient is designed to prevent split ends and improve hair fiber integrity, making it more resistant to daily stress and breakage.
The Innovation Zone ingredients are eligible for the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Awards, which will be presented at the show on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at 5:15 p.m..
