SILAB founder Jean Paufique has died at the age of 93.

Paufique founded the company in 1984 following about 20 years at Blédina group.

SILAB (Société Industrielle Limousine Application Biologique) initially focused on "valorizing animal blood for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications."

In 1991, Paufique refocused the company on plant-based raw materials.

The founder was made a Chevalier de la Légion Honneur in 2012 in recognition of his achievements and SILAB's prominence in the engineering of natural active ingredients.

SILAB notes, "As he had wished, the implementation of a supervisory board and a management board ensures that the SILAB adventure continues on the road to success. The company remains independent and family-owned and will carry on managing its operations and development."
