As reported last week, the BBC highlighted AI's potential to effectively put an end to animal testing. "One application of AI in this field is simple but said to be proving effective – using it to trawl through all the existing and available global animal testing results to prevent the need for unnecessary new tests," the source reported.

In the interview, Thomas Hartung, a toxicology professor at Johns Hopkins University and the director of the Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing noted, "AI is as good as a human, or better, at extracting information from scientific papers.” He added that having the ability to press a button and get a preliminary assessment on a chemical, including any red flags, would be "enormously helpful."

Of course, the beauty industry (like most of us) is still learning how to adapt AI for various tasks effectively and accurately — and to trust it. This made us wonder: Which alternatives to animal testing do you find most reliable?

We asked you last week. Here's what you said.
