By destabilizing only acneic C. acnes strains, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics has found it possible to rebalance the phylotype distribution of the skin microbiome for anti-acne care that is milder to skin.
As Magali Borel (pictured left), product line manager for the company, explained in this sponsored interview, Dendriclear (INCI: Glycerin (and) Water (Aqua) (and) Polylysine) is a dendrimer-based ingredient made of naturally derived lysine amino acids and obtained by green chemistry. It selectively weakens acneic subspecies of C. acnes by decreasing membrane fluidity and the biofilm to favor the growth of non-acneic strains, thus recovering "acnebiome" homeostasis.
