Gill Westgate, Ph.D., is an expert in skin and hair biology gained through a long career in both cosmetic industry and academic sectors, with many years working for Unilever UK R&D and then, the University of Bradford UK. She has published many papers in the academic and popular press and is a regular invited speaker at conferences in the UK and internationally.
Recently retired from academia, Westgate now works in close collaboration with scientists and dermatologists in industry on their innovation projects. She is a past president of the European Hair Research Society, immediate past chair of the International Federation of Hair Research Societies and a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists.
In 2020, she co-founded Cosmetics Cluster UK, a business-to-business networking cluster which now has more than 50 industry members and regularly participates in industry events to promote collaboration and careers throughout the value chain.
