Hiroyuki Yoshida, of Kao Corp., presented the concept of hyaluronan homeostasis for anti-aging effects during the 30th IFSCC Congress in Munich. Following is an excerpt from our exclusive interview; click below to watch the complete video.
"Chronic UV exposure cause photoaging, such as skin wrinkles and sagging. It's a complex biological process, affecting various layers of the skin, and major changes are observed in the dermis.
"Huge effort has been made [to uncover] the details of the molecular mechanisms of photoaging, and to develop strategies to improve photoaging of the skin, [but these] remain elusive.
"So in this study, we tried to understand [these molecular mechanisms] to establish a new solution based on the idea of revealing hyaluronan (hyaluronic acid, HA) from the inside by optimizing HA homeostasis."
