On May 11, 2023, the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) met in Tokyo, Japan, with the Korean Cosmetic Industry Institute (KCII) to finalize details on a collaboration for fragrance safety assessment and regulatory information.
The Tokyo meeting followed up on an earlier RIFM-KCII meeting in March of this year, during which the parties discussed potential collaboration opportunities and agreed to exchange safety data on cosmetics and ingredients and collaborate on relevant training courses.
According to a release by RIFM, KCII and RIFM share a common interest in evaluating fragrance ingredients and naturals for human health and environmental safety, including cosmetics products and components.
RIFM president Anne Marie Api, PhD., commented, “The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, or MoU, with KCII marks another significant step forward in ensuring that the world can safely enjoy their favorite fragranced products."
Api added, “RIFM’s scientists collaborate with a vast array of fragrance safety stakeholders in conducting and disseminating their research. The benefits of these collaborations include access to expanded expertise, less duplication of effort, learning opportunities for everyone involved, and the expanded adoption of RIFM’s science worldwide.”
