Rhodia Inc. has announced improvements to its Blue Island, Illinois manufacturing plant. The project includes an upgraded reactor system and blending vessels that increase Rhodia's overall capacity for specialty surfactant products. The Blue Island plant also hosted other enhancements including an improved control system, additional product storage, and quality assurance, mechanical, environmental and safety upgrades.
"These enhancements will improve product quality and consistency, flexibility of operations,k and improved service and delivery to our customers around the world," said Stewart Warburton, global business director in Rhodia's Novecare enterprise.
The Blue Island plant produces a range of surfactants, surfactant blends and structured liquid surfactants for the personal care and home care industries. According to the company, ingredients produced at the Blue Island plant are found in consumer products such as hand and body washes, shampoos and facial washes.
