When most people in the personal care industry hear the word tea, their mind probably automatically conjures the green variety, but what about red? Gary Goldfaden, MD, a dermatologist with nearly 40 years of experience, has launched a skin care line that is centered around red tea. According to Goldfaden, red tea or rooibos, has both nutrient and antioxidant benefits.
Goldfaden claims that red tea has two times the antioxidant benefits of green tea. He also maintains that the ingredient contains the most potent antioxidant, super oxide dismutase, which is said to protect skin against environmental damage and free radicals.
The line was launched in January and includes 18 items designed to cleanse, moisturize and treat the skin. Other ingredients formulated in the line include: ruby crystals for microdermabrasion, hyaluronic acid as a filler and acetyl hexapeptide-3 as a deep wrinkle treatment.
