New polymer films and coatings were recently featured on Yet2.com, a Web site dedicated to technologies sought and/or available for license. According to the site, polymer films and coatings are used in the electronics industry as insulating materials and protective coatings and many aromatic polymers have superior mechanical strength, thermal stability, and solvent resistance.
The polymer film patent portfolio featured includes aromatic polymers useful as insulating layers in multilayer integrated circuit devices due to low dielectric constants, low moisture absorption, and good thermal stability. Polymer properties, such as thermal stability and resistance to solvents reportedly can be further improved by crosslinking the polymers.
Particular crosslinking agents useful with the aromatic polymers have also been developed. Polymers prepared with these crosslinking agents have excellent thermal stability and solvent resistance.
