TRI-K Industries Inc. has introduced a form of vitamin E intended to lighten skin while reducing inflammation and providing antioxidant protection. D-Gamma Tocopherol (INCI: Tocopherol), according to the company, provides distinct benefits that set it apart from alpha tocopherol, a commonly used cosmetic ingredient.
The ingredient is found in high concentrations in corn, soybean and cottonseed oil. The company has found the vitamin E ingredient to inhibit melanin synthesis and redness when applied to the skin by inhibiting COX II, tyrosinase and other melanin activating factors. This element coupled with the ingredient's ability to impart protection against UV and other environmental factor reportedly make it suitable for antiaging products, skin lightening products, pre- and post-sun treatments and body creams.
