Lubrizol Life Science Beauty (LLS Beauty) has introduced Zenerity (INCI: Glycerin, Water (Aqua), Bacillus Ferment) biotech ingredient, an active ingredient that soothes skin inflammation while defying aging and Carbopol Fusion S-20 polymer (INCI: Starch Acetate/Adipate (and) Citric Acid) for sustainability and biodegradability.

In vitro tests showed Zenerity biotech ingredient counteracted skin inflammation and garb-aging — the accumulation of Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs), while showing an anti-glycation effect, even under metabolic stress conditions, per the company.

Tests on volunteers showed the ingredient soothed sensitive skin, leaving it looking more luminous, healthier and younger. Immediate redness reduction was seen 30 minutes after applying the product and the number of dark spots were also reduced at the end of the treatment. These positive effects were observed even when the volunteers were following an unhealthy diet. Volunteers also experienced more positive emotional states when using Zenerity biotech ingredient.

Applications include topical skin care solutions aiming to minimize skin sensitivity while achieving a youthful appearance as well as skin care formulations helping to counteract the negative effects of an unhealthy diet on the skin. It can also form part of multifunctional rejuvenating skin care solutions for the most sensitive skin types, per the company.

The company has also expanded its polymer line with Carbopol Fusion S-20 polymer, an inherently biodegradable rheology modifier that provides thickening, suspension and clarity similar to acrylates copolymer. It is ideal for skin cleansing and hair care applications.

Carbopol Fusion S-20 polymer has a smooth flow that provides a light, soft sensory experience on the skin. It performs similarly to Carbopol Aqua polymers, with good foam volume, creamy foam texture, pH flexibility and excellent rheology modification benefits. It also suspends zinc pyrithione and silicone emulsions at low use levels with efficient viscosity, per the company.

Carbopol Fusion S-20 polymer addresses all 12 principles of green chemistry. In the manufacturing process, the ingredient maintains a framework for designing and improving materials, products and processes to reduce the impact of chemicals and their synthesis on the environment and health. The ingredient includes freefrom genetically modified organisms (GMOs), ethoxylated ingredients (EO) and polyethyleneglycol (PEGs), has a low carbon footprint and contains starch, a renewable resource with good traceability.
