Lake Chemicals and Minerals Ltd. has announced the creation of a new business unit that centers around the nanotechnology trend. The new unit, nanoLake, reportedly will enable formulators to consider nanometer sized raw materials in the new product development process.
According to the company, suppliers to nanoLake manufacture nanop articles and nano emulsions in industrial volumes for use in markets such as personal care, polymers, ceramics and lubricants. The company will offer a range of nano particle sized oxides, nitrides, carbides, metals and organics. It will also offer technical, operational and commercial advice to customers.
"Nano materials offer the most exciting scientific developments of the moment to European formulating manufacturers who have to compete with Asian competitors on the basis of value added knowledge rather than cost," said Steven Cartlidge, managing director of Lake in a recent press release.
