Greentech has updated results for its hair care ingredient, Hairiline (INCI: Propanediol (and) Water (Aqua) (and) Lindera Strychnifolia Root Extract). Hairiline is a systemic approach to rebalance the microbiota of the scalp and act on the hair cycle pathways for re-boosted hair.

Skin and hair are impacted by environmental and behavioral factors that can lead to dry, sensitive and reactive skin, premature aging, dull and brittle hair, loss of hair and canities. Greentech has focused on hair loss, more specifically, alopecia, by using a systemic approach including the study of the Wnt/β-catenin cell signaling pathway, which is the key to the hair cycle and the study of the scalp microbiota.
The scalp contains many yeasts due to its humid environment, particularly from the Malassezia species involved in the occurrence of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and alopecia. Among these bacteria, the most common are C. acnes and S. epidermidis but there are also local populations that synthesize vitamins and nutrients essential for hair growth.

Because of a metagenomic study from Greentech, the company characterized the scalp’s microbiota from people suffering from alopecia and evaluated molecules such as terpenes and polyphenols family, which are found in the plant world could modulate this microbiota. Hairiline is claimed to reduce the C. acnes and S. epidermidis ratio, which is increased in the case of alopecia, causing microinflammation.
According to Greentech, Hairiline also rebalances the M. globosa and M.restrica ratio. In vitro studies have reported the action on the inhibitors of the Wnt pathway. These results are reflected in user satisfaction and observation with 77% of users observed a slowing down of hair loss, while 81% noted an acceleration of hair growth.
