DSM has added to its Quali vitamins portfolio with its own Vitamin B12 (INCI: Cyanocobalamin) biotechnology, a naturally derived and pink skin care ingredient that relieves sensitive and stressed skin. Benefits include helping to prevent photo-damaged skin, and speeding cell recovery and regeneration.

DSM’s latest studies showed the ingredient could relieve fatigued and irritated skin, protect the skin barrier and promote a more vibrant-looking complexion. In particular, it was found to:

  • Act on atopic dermatitis, reducing erythema and pruritus in vivo;
  • Prevent inflammation ex vivo, with a significant and strong reduction of inflammasome and inflammatory cytokines such as Il1-β;
  • Epigenetically regulate the inflammasome; Vitamin B12 at 0.01% significantly up-regulated miR-22-3p by 61% after UV stress; and
  • Significantly reduce Mast cell degranulation by 31% in vitro, decreasing histamine release.

The Vitamin B12 product gives formulas a pink hue. This grade of vitamin B12 is produced through non-GMO bacterial fermentation. It has a natural origin index of 68.7%, and is halal-approved and vegan-compliant.
