The new meter is said to offer an innovative way to measure transepidermal water loss and other skin factors based on an open chamber measurement method.
The Tewameter Hex includes thirty pairs of sensors, giving 15 times more information than previous Tewameter products. According to the company, the data for each single measurement provides accurate, reproducible and quick results for skin parameters.
New measurements for this tool include: local skin energy balance, as determined through separately measuring the transepidermal heat loss by heat diffusion from the body, and evaporation cooling, as assessed through water vapor; water vapor concentration; the processing of TEWL (skin and ambience); and relative humidity of the skin.
