Actives: Testing for Efficacy

Cosmetic actives remain of high interest as consumers demand products giving noticeable results. As new routes to trigger mechanisms of action are uncovered, testing for efficacy becomes key. For those individuals interested in testing the efficacy of actives, C&T magazine is providing a free webinar focused on this very subject.

There is still time to register for Cosmetics & Toiletries second webinar, Actives: Testing for Efficacy. The webinar will take place April 30, 2008, at 9:00 CST. Attendees will learn how to evaluate product efficacy, how delivery impacts efficacy, clinical methods to prove efficacy, why standardization is crucial, substantiating topical vs. systemic claims, and more.

Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine kicked off its webinar series on actives in November 2007 with a look at trends for actives in personal care, current actives and their mechanisms of action, and optimizing the delivery of actives. Follow along as C&T magazine looks at actives from a new angle in Actives: Testing for Efficacy.

The webinar's speaker, biochemist Theresa Callaghan, PhD, has served many years in the industry with Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Evonik, Hill Top Research and proDERM GmbH. She is now president of DermPharCos (DPC) based in Germany, specializing in developing and defining product claims and providing scientific integrity for media channels and promotion. She is currently on the advisory board for Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine.

Johann Wiechers, PhD, a pharmacist by training, will moderate the webinar. Johann Wiechers, was appointed visiting professor at the University of London, School of Pharmacy, in April 2007, and launched his own cosmetic science consultancy, JW Solutions in June 2007. He is currently president of the IFSCC and technical advisor to Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine.
