The wrong mix of skin micro flora can lead to unbalanced, ailing skin. But there are solutions.

Acme Hardesty's Botaniplex Balance SC is a synergistic mixture of plant extracts that sooth and rebalance irritated skin and scalp impacted by acne and dandruff caused by S. capitis and P. acnes bacteria.

Last year, Spate reported that consumers are increasingly seeking out methods to treat scalps and support hair health.

Searches for scalp-centric treatments like scalp scrub and scrub massage increased 22.4% and 9.6%, respectively. Scalp flakes searches increased 47.6%, tender scalp searches increased 27.6% and dry scalp searches increased 7.9%.

The firm also reported in the Washington Post that pimple patches have garnered 97,600 monthly searches in the United States. The Post added that, according to Trendalytics, "social posts mentioning pimple patches are up 93 percent over last year."

Given the momentum around the need for a more balanced microbiome for the scalp and skin, we spoke to Caren Dres-Hajeski, vice president, personal care and marketing, Acme-Hardesty Co., to better understand on-trend ingredient technologies that can elevate products and claims.
