The Association for Chemoreception Sciences (AChemS) annual meeting covering taste and smell will be held April 26-30, 2006, at the Sarasota Hyatt Hotel in Sarasota, Fla., USA. New this year is a symposium/tutorial designed to help busy industry scientists and policy makers who may not have time to keep abreast of the torrent of basic research.
"Taste and Smell in Translation: Applications from Basic Research," will provide examples of recent advances in basic research, from molecular to perceptual levels, that have potential industry applications, says the organizers. The symposium will be followed by a reception with buffet for participants to network and interact with symposium speakers and other interested basic scientists.
The Science of Fragrance Award will be offered for the best presentation relevant to companies involved in the creation or marketing of fragrances. A panel of academic and industry scientists will select the winner. Additionally, AChemS will set up an index of basic scientists able and willing to answer questions related to industry applications of basic research. These volunteers may also be available for more formal consultation arrangements (details will be posted at www.achems.org).
